Greetings Friends,
First, I would like to congratulate all those who created and carried the vision of BPF for 30 years. 108 bows to you all!
As time takes it course we are all aware of change that come with it. Change and transformation is happening at every level of our relative existence. Everything we might have taken for granted is being tested. This includes our values and beliefs. All of which we lived by is transforming before our very eyes. We cannot avoid this change. We can only face it, reconcile with it, make peace with it. As the year has progressed the economy and social human condition of this country has suffered and it is having an affect on BPF as we struggle with a tight budget and a broad vision. And yet, we continue.
Despite being a part of the chaos in this country today, we are moving forward exploring ways in which BPF can be sustained and revitalized at the same time. Also, BPF currently is seeking funds to broaden the visibility of Turning Wheel by increasing circulation and offering appropriate print and web support to compassion-based businesses and organizations. Finally, we are cultivating major donors to enhance our website which supports many dharma-based socially engaged organizations and efforts beyond BPF.
At times it seems impossible to continue on here. But my ancestors say I must. My parents, born in the early 1900’s and late 1800’s, lived with some horrendous circumstances and yet they found ways to continue living each day. They did not know about Buddha and yet they did understand trusting in the nature of things, ancient teachings of life, and love within the community of family and friends around them. This is exactly what I have learned from them. And it is with these things I will do my best to serve the community of BPF.
We are coming toward the end of the 2008. Amazing! It is our hope that you will consider BPF in your charitable giving this year. We would like to continue the legacy of engaged dharma for 30 more years!. Your help is needed please go to SUPPORT BPF and donate now. Thank you.
In peace,
Zenju Earthlyn Manuel
