Oren Sofer has been a dedicated Vipassana practitioner since his introduction to the Dhamma in Bodh Gaya, India, in 1997. He has studied closely with Anagarika Munindra, Joseph Goldstein and Michele McDonald, including two years of service as a residential staff member at the Insight Meditation Society.
Oren’s commitment to social transformation manifests in his work as a mediator, environmental education teacher, communications trainer and facilitator, as well as through the inner work of healing racism and sexism. He is trained as a mediator in the state of Massachusetts and has studied and practiced Nonviolent Communication since 2002. His passions include the outdoors, working with youth, and making music. He believes that the dharma has a vast potential to help heal our planet and social systems, but that more conscious effort needs to be made to apply the teachings and practice to the field of relationship.
